Case Study
Requirement:
Creative Jar were approached by New World Media with a very interesting proposition, to build a social networking platform with the propose of finding and propelling forward a candidate for the 2008 London Mayoral elections, Facebook meets the Xfactor. The ?London Elects You? site would need to utilise all of features now synonymous with community portals, forums, blogs, media uploading and include a voting mechanism. What?s more the site needed to be totally branded, designed and developed within a four week period.
Planning:
With such a tight time frame planning was crucial to ensure the successful delivery of the project. Through a number of preliminary client workshops, a detailed specification, wireframes and delivery schedule were put in place.
With projects of this nature it is essential to invest time at the beginning for planning; a specification and deliverables need to be clearly defined and a project plan taking into account testing and contingency implemented.
Creative:
With no brand in place and the site name still under discussion Creative Jar was really starting with a blank canvas. The brand needed to be simple but direct, it needed to illicit a response and demand action. The Kitchener posters of the 1900s provided a backdrop for the logo development and their influence is in clear in the final logo. With ?London Elects You? being a politically neutral body, colour usage around the brand needed careful consideration it was imperative not to align or associate the brand with any of the leading political parties.
