Blekko was launched in beta, with the rumour that it would kill off everyone’s favourite search engine Google.
However, Blekko founder Mike Marksona said that Blekko “has no intention of competing with Google whatsoever, it simply wants to create a search portal that would give more precise results.”
The major difference between this new search engine and Google is Blekko’s use of the slashtag filter, so only authentic site are revealed. For example if you are searching for an answer on a subject, Blekko will only search the relevant section rather than the entire web.
Available on desktop and mobile’s Blekko aims to give users a more defined, accurate search, whether people will move away from their tried and tested search engines is to be seen.
